WHAT IS PDF?
Adobe(R) Portable Document Format (PDF) is the standard program
for electronic document distribution worldwide. PDF is a universal
file format that preserves all of the fonts, formatting, colors,
and graphics of any source document, regardless of the application
and platform used to create it. PDF files are compact and can be
shared, viewed, navigated, and printed exactly as intended by anyone
with a free Adobe Acrobat(R) Reader.
HOW DO I GET ADOBE ACROBAT READER?
You can download the newest version of Adobe Reader for the Adobe
website - http://www.adobe.com/prodindex/acrobat/readstep.html.
There are links to the Adobe website on the Elevator Concepts website.
Simply walk through the online instructions to download the file.
Once the file has download, you must install Adobe Reader on your
computer's hard drive. Locate the downloaded file, and the wizard
will instruct you on installation options. When the Reader is installed,
your Windows registry will be updated so that any time you open
a file with the extension .pdf, the Reader will execute.
HOW CAN I OPEN PDF DOCUMENTS?
After installing Acrobat Reader, return to Elevator Concept website
and go the PDF index. When you double click on any PDF document
name, Adobe Reader will execute and then open the file you selected.
You can then view or print the document. Note that opening the
file while online does not save it to your computer.
If you wish save the file on your computer for opening at another
time, such as when you are offline, right click the document name.
A menu will drop down; click "Save Target As.." Your computer
will get some preliminary information about the file, then you
will be asked where to save the file on your computer, and what
name to use. Click Save to save the file with the default directory
and name, or enter a different directory and name if you prefer.
The file will then download and be saved on your computer. You
can then open the document with Adobe Reader at anytime.
